Chidi Njokuani looking to pick apart Rafael Carvalho at Bellator 224

Ahead of Bellator 224, Chidi Njokuani is feeling quite comfortable in his new middle weight class. For the fighter, he talks about his co-main event against the battle tested Rafael Carvalho. The former welterweight talked a little bit about his time at welterweight.

“I feel good, solid,” said “Bang Bang” Njokuani.

“My body was kind of letting me know. I just couldn’t make the weight anymore. I was getting too heavy and the weight wasn’t coming off as easy,” he continued.

Njokuani is coming off a loss last November at middleweight to John Salter in a first round submission. He will look to bounce back with a victory over a very talented Rafael Carvalho.

“I’m just sticking to what I do,” Njokuani stated.

“I am going to try to pick him apart and go where ever it goes. I’m just getting ready for wherever he wants to take me,” he continued.”

Similarly, Carvalho is coming off of two very tough losses to Lyoto  Machida and Gegard Mousasi, both in 2018. Prior to those back-to-back losses, Carvalho was on a six-fight Bellator win streak dating all the way back to 2014.

So what will Njokuani look for in a fight against the tough middleweight?

“He does seem to slow down,” Njokuani admitted.

“He keeps going but he looks really gassed and tired [in later rounds]. But I expect it to be a scrap. I’m going to go out there and really try to push the pace,” he finished.

Bellator 224 kicks off Friday, July 12 at the WinStar World Casino & Resort in Thackerville, OK with the main card starting at 9 PM ET.
