Chris Daukaus vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik rebooked for UFC 282
A heavyweight bout between top contenders Chris Daukaus and Jairzinho Rozenstruik has been rebooked for UFC 282.
Daukaus and Rozenstruik were originally supposed to meet at UFC Vegas 61 on October 1, but the fight has been pushed back to a later date. According to MMAjunkie.com, the Daukaus vs. Rozenstruik fight will now take place at UFC 282, which is set for December 10 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Daukaus (12-6) is the No. 11 ranked heavyweight in the UFC. The 32-year-old American started off his UFC run with four straight knockout wins, but he has struggled in his last two fights, losing by knockout to Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis. Daukaus is still one of the top-15 ranked heavyweights on the UFC roster, but he needs to get a win over Rozenstruik to bounce back into the win column.
Rozenstruik (12-4) is the No. 9 ranked heavyweight in the UFC. The 34-year-old Suriname native is 6-4 overall in the UFC. Similarly to Daukaus, Rozenstruik opened up his UFC career with four straight wins by knockout. However, he’s struggled since then with a 2-4 record over his last six fights, including a knockout loss to Alexander Volkov in his last outing. Rozenstruik is most certainly still one of the top heavyweights on the UFC roster, but like his opponent Daukaus, he’s in a situation right now where he needs to win this fight in order to bounce back.
There are betting odds available for this fight, although they may slightly shift due to the fight taking place two months later. At this time of writing, Rozenstruik is a -175 betting favorite to get his hand raised, with Daukaus as a +150 underdog. Given Rozenstruik’s weight and reach advantages, it’s fair to give him a slight edge in the betting odds, but Daukaus absolutely has what it takes to win this fight, too.
