Chris Weidman Recalls Time He Crapped Himself From Head-to-Toe Before A Wrestling Tournament

Chris Weidman wants Luke Rockhold rematch at light heavyweight

Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold were rivals at middleweight. The two only fought once where Rockhold TKO’d Weidman in the fourth round to become the new middleweight champion.

Since then, both have dealt with various injuries and couldn’t string together a few wins in a row at middleweight. Now, the two have both moved up to light heavyweight and Weidman is eyeing the rematch.

“That’s definitely on the agenda,” Weidman told TMZ (transcript via MMA Junkie). “I don’t know if that would be my first fight or not, but I think your first loss definitely hurts the most. To have the opportunity to get that one back is definitely something I want to do.”

Although the Luke Rockhold fight is a fight he wants, Weidman is looking to fight other light heavyweights first. Rockhold is set to fight Jan Blachowicz at UFC 239, where if the former middleweight champion wins, he could very well be fighting Jon Jones next. But, for Chris Weidman, who those opponents are is simple. He wants to fight and beat Jon Jones and become the light heavyweight champion.

“I’ve got to fight some other guys first, but at some point, that’s the goal. When I was at 185, the goal was to hold the belt at 185 for as long as I could, then go up to 205 and win the belt over there.

“It didn’t work according to my plan perfectly. But now I’m at 205, and I definitely think I have the tools to beat (Jones).”

Chris Weidman has expressed interest in the fight with Jones on numerous occasions but it seems likely he will have to win a couple of fights at light heavyweight to get the title shot. For possible opponents at 205, well it could very well be the likes of Dominick Reyes or Corey Anderson.
