Corey Norman Cage Wars 40 Interview | Carroll’s Corner MMA Podcast
Corey Norman returns to the Cage Wars scene after defeating Nick Spencer in an impressive fashion at Cage Wars 39. Norman is now training at Orchard Park MMA and will be battling Alex Marro at Cage Wars 40 on February 9, 2019, for the light heavyweight title. Cage Wars 40 returns to the Rivers Casino and Resort in Schenectady, New York, the first of five events scheduled for 2019. Doors swing open at 5:30 PM and fights start at 7 PM when the live stream promptly begins.
Norman, a full-time social studies teacher joins Carroll’s Corner MMA Podcast to speak about his upcoming fight against Marro. A fight Marro asked for immediately after Norman finished his teammate, Spencer in the first round. The Buffalo area fighter speaks about his return to the cage after the last fight in 2007. He explains his short and long-term goals for his MMA career.
At 2-0, hoping to improve to 3-0 with a victory over Marro, which is his toughest task thus far in his career. Marro currently a heavyweight wrestler for Oneonta State and strong boxing pedigree. Norman proved his strength in the clinch against Spencer, we’ll see if this top light heavyweight prospect can fight through the clinch of his opponent.
In the interview, Norman speaks about his goals in MMA and expresses his interest in turning professional when the time is right. Right now, the humble and well-spoken Orchard Park MMA fight will be focusing on his opponent waiting for him on Feb. 9, which is being contended for the Cage Wars Light Heavyweight title. Whichever fighter prevails in this title fight, it would be awesome to see them compete against a strong prospect down on Long Island by the name of Gareth Hornell. Hornell is currently the Triton Fights heavyweight champion, and it would be a great matchup and true litmus test for the top athlete in New York State.
