Cris Cyborg discusses boxing fight, responds to Kayla Harrison and believes she can beat her anywhere the fight goes

A legend of combat sports, Cris Cyborg wants to keep going for as long as her body and mind allow. That’s why the 16-time MMA Grand Slam Champion is stepping back inside the boxing ring to begin the 2024 calendar year. Cyborg will face the No. 3 ranked and undefeated Kelsey Wickstrum at WFC 163 on January 19, in Temecula, California.

Making a guest appearance on the ‘On The Mic‘ podcast, Cris Cyborg spoke with MyMMANews about her upcoming fight against Wickstrum, responded to Kayla Harrison’s callout, and the news about PFL’s purchase of Bellator MMA where she was reigning featherweight champion. Wanting to stay active and competitive, Cyborg detailed how the offer to fight Wickstrum was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up because it kept her stay focused and was a fight that her team believed would fare well for her.

Following the news of PFL’s purchase of Bellator MMA, Kayla Harrison, former PFL champion, called out Cris Cyborg and the reigning champion responded with supreme confidence. Known for her devastating striking throughout her career, Cyborg made it a point to let it be known that she is also a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, something Harrison doesn’t have, even going as far to say that she can defeat her no matter where the fight goes.

Having accomplished everything she has in her career, picking up titles in the UFC, Invite FC, Strikeforce, and Bellator MMA, the legendary Cyborg is at a place in her career where her focus is getting the biggest opportunities that will keep her pushing forward.

First things first for Cris Cyborg, she’ll lock in on her first fight in 2024 against Kelsey Wickstrum inside the boxing ring, as she tries to be the first to defeat Wickstrum. From that point on, whether the Kayla Harrison fight will materialize is yet to be determined, but what is known, Cyborg is confident that she will get the victory in any way she desires.
