Official Result: Dan Hooker def. Mateusz Gamrot via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

Gamrot had a great start to the opening round, taking Hooker down and controlling him, and also opening a cut over his eye. Hooker got back to his feet but was dropped with a nasty right hand and absolutely battered from there. Gamrot was unloading on him with vicious combinations from top position.

Eventually Hooker was able to return to his feet and hurt Gamrot towards the end of round one.

Hooker landed a body kick early in the second that was immediately caught by Gamrot, who proceeded to take him down off it. Gamrot spent some more time in top position before Hooker returned to his feet, Hooker pressing the action from the very second he got up.

Gamrot shot in on an early takedown in the third, Hooker defending it with a tight modified guillotine choke attempt; he defended a lot of takedowns in this fight by threatening with the guillotine.

Hooker pressed the action and controlled the center, each man landing good punches onto the other though Hooker started getting the better of the exchanges as the round went on.

This was a big win for ‘The Hangman’ Dan Hooker, and easily one of his biggest to date. He’s now won three straight since November of 2022.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
