Dan Ige set to face Damon Jackson at first UFC event of 2023
Dan Ige will look to get back into the win column in January.
Damon Jackson recently appeared on the Against The Fence podcast – as they were doing a watch along for the UFC card – and revealed he will face Ige on January 14, 2023. The event will take place at the UFC Apex and will be headlined by a middleweight bout between Kelvin Gastelum and Nassourdine Imavov.
Dan Ige (15-6) is on a three-fight losing skid but is still ranked 12th at featherweight. Ige is coming off a decision loss to Movsar Evloev back in June and prior to that, he lost a very close decision to Josh Emmett at UFC 269. His losing skid started with a five-round main event decision loss to Korean Zombie.
Ige made his UFC debut in 2018 with a decision loss to Julio Arce. The Hawaiian then rallied with six straight wins before losing to Calvin Kattar in a main event fight. In the UFC, Ige is 7-5 with notable wins over Edson Barboza, Mirsad Bektic, and Gavin Tucker among others.
Damon Jackson (22-4-1) is on a four-fight winning streak and coming off a first-round TKO win over Pat Sabatini back in September. Also on the winning streak, he beat Daniel Argueta by decision, Kamuela Kirk by submission and Charles Rosa by decision. Jackson is 5-2-1 and one No Contest in the UFC over two stints as he went 0-1 and one No Contest during his first stint and was released.
