Dana White confirms UFC France event coming in 2022

UFC president Dana White confirmed that a UFC France event is coming in 2022, and he also says the promotion will do another card in England.

MMA has been legal in France for the past two years, but due to the coronavirus, White hasn’t been able to take the Octagon to France yet. After spending the last two years mainly doing events in Las Vegas and occasionally Abu Dhabi, the UFC is now ready to get back on the road and put together fights in other countries. It began this weekend when UFC London took place, and it turned out to be an amazing card that White admitted has “reenergized” him. The UFC will come back to England later this year, but they are also planning on making an event in France, too.

Speaking to the media following UFC London, White confirmed that the UFC will be doing an event in France in 2022, though he declined to specify any particular details about the event.

“I can tell you this: we will definitely do France this year. We will definitely do France. And I will definitely come back here again,” White said.

Former UFC interim champion Ciryl Gane is from France, so one would imagine that White would put him on the card, and likely in the main event. There are also other France-based fighters such as Fares Ziam and Nassourdine Imavov who will certainly be put on a UFC France card, as well.

It should be noted that Bellator beat the UFC to the France market as they held an event there in 2020 featuring Cheick Kongo, and Bellator will go back this May with another fight. But despite the UFC being beaten to the France MMA market, the market is still up for grabs, and White and the UFC brass will hope that they can hold an event there that is successful as UFC London was.

How excited are you to see Dana White finally take the UFC to France?
