Dana White goes on rant after recent Jon Jones ranking
UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones (27-1) has long been talked about as the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world. The only thing holding him back is himself. From legal troubles to injuries, to one long blemish on his record, the little things add up and unfortunately have led to a decline in the rankings.
A recent rule change that will allow 12-6 elbows to be permitted could possibly reverse the one loss that Jones has on his record, a disqualification loss to Matt Hamill in 2009. Aside from that, Jones has been perfect at both heayvweight and light heavyweight. He never physically lost his titles, only having them stripped and also vacated at his choosing.
Jon Jones now finds himself at number three on the pound-for-pound list as he comes in behind UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. While the rankings could change from week to week, the heavyweight kingpin is not at the top right now.
UFC CEO, Dana White recently sat down for an interview with reporter Kevin Iole. During their discussion the UFC frontman expressed his frustration, calling the ranking of Jones “ridiculous” and “embarrassing.” White did not hold back, stating that those responsible “know nothing about fighting”.
Dana White on the current UFC pound-for-pound rankings:
“Jon Jones is ranked #3 pound-for-pound in the world. That’s the most f***ing ridiculous, embarassing, stupid, know nothing about f***ing fighting ranking of all f***ing time.”

A panel of media members sit on the UFC rankings panel and submit their vote electronically following the conclusion of each week’s UFC event.
“Jon Jones is ranked No. 3 pound-for-pound in the world…,” White said. “It’s the most f****** ridiculous, embarrassing, st*pid, know nothing about f****** fighting ranking of all time… Jon Jones is the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Period. End of story.”
