Dana-White, blockbuster fights

Dana White praises “f*cking warrior” Calvin Kattar following UFC Vegas 46 win over Giga Chikadze

UFC president Dana White praised “f*cking warrior” Calvin Kattar following his incredible UFC Vegas 46 win over Giga Chikadze.

Chikadze was the clear favorite heading into the UFC Vegas 46 main event, but it was Kattar who won the fight via unanimous decision after the two went to war for 25 minutes. Although Chikadze landed over 100 significant strikes in the fight, Kattar landed even more, and he also outwrestled Chikadze and knocked him down. So when the judges’ scorecards were read, it was no surprise Kattar won.

What was a surprise to many, however, was how good Kattar looked considering he hadn’t fought in a full year since an epic beatdown loss to Max Holloway on Fight Island. Speaking to the media following the event, White praised Kattar for his great performance in the fight, saying people forgot about him, before calling him an “absolute dog,” a “special kind of guy,” and a “f*cking warrior.”

“You know what’s funny, I know remember who I was talking to about it backstage, but it’s almost like everybody forgot about Calvin Kattar and Max Holloway and a lot of people were counting him out tonight. He looked unbelievable. I thought that spinning elbow he landed definitely changed the fight. I think the wrestling match in the first round tired them both out, and they just dug down and went to war,” White told the media.

“That guy’s an absolute dog, man. If you look at the fights that he’s had in the UFC, specifically Holloway and Giga, he’s a special kind of guy. He’s a f*cking warrior, man.”

It will be interesting to see who Kattar fights next. He is currently ranked in the top-five of the UFC featherweight division and a fight against another elite 145lbs fighter could absolutely be next.

Do you agree with the positive comments that Dana White made about Calvin Kattar?
