Dana White says Charles Oliveira will return “October or November”
UFC president Dana White sat down with Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole to discuss the upcoming UFC 275 card and much more.
During the interview, Iole asked White who lightweight champion Charles Oliveira will face off against next and when we can expect his return.
Despite not releasing the name of Oliveira’s next opponent, he states “I would say he’s probably gonna fight in October. I have fights made all the way up to October 8th already so, probably October or November.”
You can watch that interview below:
The interview comes following Oliveira’s claim that the UFC has already named his upcoming opponent. On Twitter just a couple weeks ago, Oliveira was asked, “Hey Champ! Has the UFC told you who your next opponent is yet?” Oliveira replied simply stating, “They did.”

With neither White nor “Do Bronx” giving out the name, it has left speculation as to who it will be. Likely, it will be surging lightweight contender, Islam Makhachev, who has gone 11-1 in the UFC and recently defeated the likes of Dan Hooker and Bobby Green both by way of stoppage.
With the expected timeframe of his return being October or November, it is also likely that the bout will take place in Abu Dhabi with UFC 281 taking place in late October at the Etihad Arena.
Other potential matchups for the seemingly unbeatable Charles Oliveira include Michael Chandler, or Beneil Dariush, both of which are coming off wins over Tony Ferguson.
Another potential matchup, that may not be too far out of reach is a Brazil vs. Ireland 2 bout between Oliveira and Conor McGregor.
As this all unfolds, who do you think it will be? Who do you want it to be?
