Daniel Weichel discusses Bellator 210 and potential rematch with Patricio Pitbull
Daniel Weichel may be coming off a loss to Patricio Pitbull back in July, but the featured fighter of Bellator 210 is looking to get back in the win column as he faces Goiti Yamauchi on November 30.
Both Weichel and Yamauchi are Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts, but Weichel believes his BJJ will be at another level for his upcoming bout.
“I have good confidence in my jiu jitsu,” said Weichel.
“I think I will have the right weapons to beat him. I really respect him as a fighter … but I put my jiu jitsu on the next level,” Weichel continued.
Weichel, almost nine years older than Yamauchi, isn’t worried about his age difference, either.
“I feel like I’m in great shape right now,” Weichel boasted.
“Age is just a number and as long as it doesn’t get in your head, it doesn’t have an effect on you,” he stated.
So how does Weichel expect to get the victory against another dangerous BJJ fighter? He feels that BJJ fighters need to have a different mindset walking into an MMA fight.
“I want to put the pressure on him and finish him,” Weichel exclaimed.
Getting back into the win column may be the most important part of his bout in Thackerville, OK, but Weichel did have some thoughts on the previous fight between Pitbull and Emmanuel Sanchez.
“It was a war,” Weichel stated.
“It was a great fight. Both fighters showed tremendous heart. Pitbull just showed why he’s the champion,” he continued.
With a victory over Yamauchi, the top of the division could be very interesting with Sanchez calling for a rematch against Pitbull. But a dominant performance from Weichel could also mean a rematch against Sanchez, where Weichel won via split-decision.
Weichel vs. Yamauchi will headline Bellator 210 prelims at the WinStar Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma on Friday November 30.
