Danny Gonzalez, Floyd Mayweather Student, Passes Away at 22
Danny Gonzalez, the student of Floyd Mayweather, has passed away at the age of 22. Gonzalez passed on September 7th, confirms the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. He was killed in a shooting in Moreno Valley, California. He and two minors were shot. Gonzalez passed on the scene and the two minors were sent to the local hospital.
“Deputies secured the area as a crime scene and investigators from Moreno Valley Sheriff Statioin responded. The Central Homicide Unit also responded and assumed the investigation,” a press release on Danny Gonzalez said.
Danny Gonzalez, the 22 year old, started out a promising boxing career with a 3-0 record. He was one of a slew of great and talented boxers under the tutelage of the great Floyd Mayweather. It is unclear if there was foul play or if this was an unfortunate accident.

The boxing media took to their platforms to send thoughts and prayers to Gonzalez and his family. The president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman, tweeted his condolences to Gonzalez and his family saying, “We are very sad to report the tragic death of boxer and top prospect, Danny Gonzalez. We send your deepest condolences and prayers to the Gonzalez family at this hard time. May Danny rest in eternal piece.”
Gonzalez signed with Mayweather Promotions in 2016 after Mayweather spoke very highly of him. He wrote about him in 2016 saying, There are certain times when you know you’ve just struck gold and this is one of them! Welcome 18 year old phenomenon Danny Gonzalez.”
Gonzalez racked up a fantastic 96-13 amateur record and won nine national championships. Gonzalez took a break from boxing in 2017 and was planning a comeback in 2020 or 2021.
