Darren Mima returns to ACB MMA, fights in Grozny on January 26
One of the best flyweight competitors in the northeast will return to the Absolute Championship Berkut (ACB MMA) cage in 2019. Darren Mima ( 10-6) is currently ranked as the number one pro flyweight in New Jersey according to Tapology and will fight internationally for the fourth time when he goes to Grozny, Russia on January 26. No opponent has officially been announced as of yet.
UPDATE: It appears as if Mima will take on Imran Bukuev (8-1), a native of Grozny. Bukuev is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Azam Gaforov at WFCA 50 earlier this summer.
Mima, a pro since 2012, has fought three times for ACB already, but unfortunately has only tasted victory in one of those bouts. In his last bout against Geane Herrera, Mima was controlling the fight before an accidental eye poke and then an illegal knee to a grounded fighter that led to him being submitted by way of rear-naked choke.
“The Mean One” Mima currently trains out of both LAW MMA and Miller Brothers and is training partners with some of the area’s top fighters to include Sean Santella and Aljamain Sterling. He serves as a mentor to Invicta atomweight comeptitor Lindsey VanZandt.
Mima is currently represented by Prime Elite Management and sponsored currently by: Northeast Financial Strategies, Kure Creative, Primed and Ready Meals and The Inksane Asylum.
