Demetrious Johnson Officially Joins ONE Championship
The most dominant world champion in mixed martial arts history has arrived in ONE Championship.
Demetrious Johnson has signed a landmark deal that will see the American megastar compete in The Home Of Martial Arts.
Widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound combat sports athlete of this era, the 32-year-old will head to Asia to showcase his incredible skill set in front of a new legion of appreciative fans.
Johnson began his martial arts journey as a successful wrestler in high school, eventually finishing as one of the top wrestlers in the state of Washington during his junior and senior years. In 2007, two years after his graduation, he made the switch to mixed martial arts.
He then put together a 10-bout win streak and quickly found himself competing in North America’s biggest promotions.
In 2012, Johnson became a Flyweight World Champion, and his grip on the title has been unrivaled anywhere else in the sport. He posted 11 consecutive defenses over a six-year stretch, finishing seven of his elite-level challengers inside the distance.

Johnson currently holds a 27-3-1 professional record, with five wins coming via knockout and 11 via submission. He has never been finished in his 11-year career.
Now, after clearing out the flyweight division in North America, he has opted to test himself against fresh challenges in Asia.
ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio will be watching carefully, and the likes of Adriano Moraes, Kairat Akhmetov, Reece McLaren, Danny Kingad, and Gianni Subba are all potential rivals for the American.
Johnson is the latest in a slew of high-profile signings to ONE Championship, including multiple-time World Champion Eddie Alvarez and top kickboxing star Nieky Holzken.
