Official Result: Don’Tale Mayes def. Andre Arlovski via TKO (punches) at 3:17 of round two

Round one is very much a feeling out process between these two.

Arlovski lands a nice right hand early on, and another good right to the body about two minutes in. Arlovski is looking to be the much sharper of the two, though Mayes catches him with an elbow followed by a right hand that wobbles him at the very end of the round.

Mayes picks his shots well in the second, landing a hard rear uppercut early in the round. Arlovski lands some good shots of his own in this round but is ultimately caught with a perfectly timed and placed right hook by Mayes that sits him down.

A few follow up punches later and Don’Tale Mayes has defeated his first world champion opponent.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
