Dustin Lampros: ‘I expect to finish Lloyd Thornton’ in Shamrock FC 324 headliner (VIDEO)
Unbeaten bantamweight prospect Dustin Lampros is “stoked as ever” to headline his first Shamrock FC event this weekend and plans to put an exclamation point on the night’s festivities.
Lampros will square off against against 16-fight veteran Lloyd Thornton in Friday night’s headliner of Shamrock FC 324. The event will take place at River City Casino in St. Louis and air on FITE TV.
“Scrappy” tells the crazy story about how — thanks to his father — he got his first fight in the combat sports world, meeting Tyron Woodley as a teenager and having him as a coach for his first three amateur fights, transitioning for an amateur to pro, the fight game clicking for him, moving to Florida to train with American Top Team and now finding his place at Hard Knocks 365, not knowing much about his opponent when the fight was booked for this Friday night, how he is still motivated by his late mother and the impact she had on his fighting career, being mentored by Charles Rosa and Charles McCarthy, how he used Rosa’s return to action at UFC Boston as extra motivation, where he goes with a win, his path to accomplishing his goal of getting to the UFC and much more.
The 25-year-old Lampros also gives his prediction for how he sees the main event of Shamrock FC 324 going down in St. Louis on Friday night.
“It’s gonna go down with fireworks,” Lampros told MyMMANews.com. “I’m gonna come out stoked as ever as I always am. I’m gonna get the crowd going. I can’t wait to get in there and I’m just going to push the pressure. I like getting after it. I don’t like hesitating, I don’t like going in there and feeling it out. I’ve been feeling it out since we were six weeks out. I’m ready to go in there and bang. I’m gonna go in there and fight. I want to see him drop, I want to see the ref pull me off and that’s what I think will happen.
“I train way too hard and put way too much into this. I don’t do anything but train full-time and sacrifice my life for this. What do I expect? I expect to go in there and finish this man.”
