Edson Barboza predicts Tony Ferguson to beat Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 249
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will look to finally fight one another at UFC 249 in Brooklyn, New York. The two have been b0oked four times previously yet have never fought. But, if it happens this time, Edson Barboza believes Ferguson has a good chance to win.
Barboza thinks Ferguson is the better striker and is unorthodox which could frustrate the champion. But, he is excited to see it as he knows it could go either way.
“It’s going to be a great fight. Very excited for this one,” Edson Barboza said to Helen Yee (via TheBodyLockMMA.com). “It’s funny because sometimes I see the fight, I think about the fight and think it’s a good fight for Khabib. But at the same time, Ferguson is hard to fight. His style, he’s a little bit different with everybody.
“I think Ferguson [should be favored] because he’s a little bit better striker. He’s more creative. Everybody knows what Khabib is doing but he does it very well,” he added. “Everybody knows but nobody can stop it. I feel Ferguson because he’s a little bit more creative, you never know what’s coming.
“Both guys have power. I feel Khabib has a little bit more power, especially on the ground, he’s a little bit stronger,” he concluded. “Like I said, some things Khabib is better, some things Tony Ferguson is better. It makes the match exciting.”
Edson Barboza has fought both Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov, so he knows their styles. When he fought Ferguson, he was submitted in the second round. Against the Dagestani champion, he went the distance but was dominated for all three rounds.
This fight at UFC 249 is one of the most anticipated bouts in a long time and it could very well prove who is the best lightweight of all-time.
Who do you think will take it?
