Edson Barboza vs. Billy Quarantillo set for UFC Fight Night event in April
A featherweight banger is set to go down in April as Edson Barboza will take on Billy Quarantillo.
Quarantillo announced on his OnlyFans that he has signed his deal to face Barboza at a Fight Night card on April 15. The fight is expected to serve as the co-main event, Quarantilo revealed. The location of the event is not known, but Quarantillo said he was told it was going to be at an arena.
Edson Barboza (22-11) is on a two-fight losing skid having dropped a decision to Bryce Mitchell back at UFC 272 in March last time out. He was supposed to face Ilia Toupria in October but an injured forced Barboza out of the scrap. Prior to the loss, Mitchell, Barboza suffered a third-round TKO to Giga Chikadze.
Barboza is currently ranked 14th at featherweight and is 2-3 since dropping down to 145lbs. In his career, the Brazilian is 16-11 in the UFC with notable wins over Shane Burgos, Dan Hooker, Beneil Dariush, Paul Felder, and Bobby Green among others.
Billy Quarantillo (17-4) is currently unranked at featherweight and returned to the win column last time out with a TKO win over Alexander Hernandez at UFC 282. In the fight prior, he dropped a decision to Shane Burgos at UFC 268 in a back-and-forth fight.
Quarantillo is 2-2 in his last four with a TKO win over Gabriel Benitez and a dropped a decision to Gavin Tucker. Before the loss to Tucker, started out his UFC career 3-0 with wins over Kyle Nelson, Spike Carlyle, and Jacob Kilburn. Quarantillo earned his way into the UFC by beating Kamuela Kirk by TKO on the Contender Series.
