Eimar Hernandez eyes stoppage win over Marcelino Silva at Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat 1, plans to be on DWCS this year

Eimar Hernandez is set for his third pro fight as he will face Marcelino Silva on Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat 1 on Sunday.

Hernandez is currently 2-0 as a pro and coming off a decision win at Cage Warriors 133 back in March. After the win, the flyweight prospect wanted to return as quickly as possible, and given that he trains at Team Alpha Male he knew it was likely he would be on Faber’s promotion.

“Oh for sure, I know I’m still working my way up the regional scene so fighting for Urijah Faber’s promotion is always an option. That’s where I train under him so why not do it,” Hernandez said to MyMMANews. “I always wanted to fight as quickly as possible so I can make it to the big show so it all made sense to be on this card.”

Since moving from Roufusport to Team Alpha Male, Hernandez believes he has gotten much better. There are more people his size that he works with and with that, he plans to make a statement on Sunday as he believes he will finish Silva.

Eimar Hernandez admits he doesn’t know much about his opponent but the plan in all his fights is the same which is to get the stoppage win.

“Honestly, I don’t really care too much about my opponent, I don’t look them up, I let my coaches handle that. I go in there and fight my fight and that’s it,” Hernandez said. “To me, I look at it like a street fight, you aren’t going into a street fight asking them about their style, I just go in there and do my thing and focus on myself and my fight. I do think I will finish him, I want to finish all my opponents and I know with my style and me coming with the heat, I’ll get the finish.”

Should Hernandez get the win, the plan is to get another fight ASAP to hopefully be 4-0 and potentially get a shot on the Contender Series this summer.

“Just fight as many times as possible, try to get on the Contender Series and make it to the big show and start to make the big bucks,” Hernandez concluded.

For now, the focus for Hernandez is on Sunday and remaining undefeated.
