After each woman had their moments through the opening five minutes Blanchfield shot in on her first takedown of the fight about two minutes into the second, securing a body lock before getting hip tossed. She got back to her feet quickly, where Namajunas appeared to have the slicker striking.

Blanchfield took Namajunas down in the third and spent three or so minutes in top position.

Namajunas on the other hand, though was out struck in round four, stuffed a number of Blanchfield’s takedown attempts through the five-minute period.

Blanchfield had a dominant fifth and final round, coming out with a tenacious pace landing combinations and securing a takedown one-minute in. She remained in top position for over three minutes, much like in the third, though Namajunas eventually worked her way back up, only to be pressed into the fence however, defending takedowns for the remaining minute of the fight.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
