ESPN Africa Boxing’s First Card of 2022 Confirmed
With just over a week to go before the ESPN Africa Boxing events make their return, the excitement on the African continent is reaching fever-pitch. The sports giant, in December 2021, announced their return to the African continent with monthly boxing events starting in January 2022. Their first event is now just over a week away and will kick off what promises to be an exciting year for the African combat scene in style.
Now, ESPN has released the official match card for the event. There are five fights on the main card, which will be preceded by two undercard fights. At the top of the card, current Mini Flyweight Champion Badile Nyangani will look to have a successful first defense of his title against Thembelani Okolo through a possible 12 rounds. As promised, there will be an all-female bout featured on the card as well. This event will be treated to a 6-round female junior featherweight bout between Gabisile Tshabalala and Ellen Simwaka, and that will serve as the penultimate fight of the evening. The first event is set to take place on January 27th with a start time of 7pm CAT/1pm EST.
