Felice Herrig to return at UFC 252 against Virna Jandiroba
Last April, Felice Herrig underwent ACL surgery, and now after a long road to recovery, ‘Lil Bulldog’ is ready to make her return to the octagon.
Herrig will meet Virna Jandiroba at UFC 252 on Aug. 15. ESPN was first to report that the fight is in the works and following their report, MMA Junkie reported that both sides have agreed to the fight, but the no contracts have been signed.
Felice Herrig (14-8) hasn’t fought since October 2018 when she lost a unanimous decision to Michelle Waterson at UFC 229. She was supposed to fight last June against Yan Xiaonan at UFC 238, but she torn her ACL during training camp for the fight. Herrig did her rehab through the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas.
Jandiroba (15-1) will making the walk to the octagon for the third time in her career. Her UFC debut was baptism by fire as she debuted against former champ Carla Esparza. She lost her debut to Esparza, but bounced back to beat Mallory Martin by submission in her second fight last December at UFC on ESPN 7.
UFC 252 does not have an official location at this time. A heavyweight title fight trilogy between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier will headline the event in what is expected to be Cormier’s last fight of his historic career.
