Jake Paul, Conor McGregor

Fight with Jake Paul Might Just Happen According to Conor McGregor’s Manager

The prospect of a fight between Conor McGregor and Jake Paul is seemingly not completely out of the question, with the Dubliner’s manager refusing to rule out such a clash sometime in the future.

The outspoken Irishman has previously spoken of the social media star in disparaging terms, but that doesn’t seem to have affected the chances of a fight between the two; in fact, the comments made in the past by McGregor could well act as a catalyst to make the possibility of a fight a genuine one.

McGregor’s pull in the UFC world is well known, with every fight he undertakes proving a big winner in terms of pay-per-view audiences and certainly also aids the betting market in the niche field. McGregor’s manager Audi Attar has commented on a possible fight with Jake Paul, be that in a boxing ring or in a UFC cage, stating;

“I think the challenge with combat sports is looking that far ahead. You never say never. Getting back into the octagon is step one, going in and handling business there. Then, not looking past that, but then, obviously, when you get past that, look at your options and see what’s next,”

Jake Paul has discussed the possible fight and those early comments from McGregor in a recent interview with the Daily Mail, commenting;

‘[Ben] Askren, Woodley, Silva, everyone ends up on the canvas and they second guess themselves. He doesn’t want that, he’s going to stay far away from me. I see a world where he fights a lower-level influencer to make some money.’

On a possible fight, Paul added,

‘I’m not really focused on it just because [McGregor] is not really his own boss,’’

‘Even if he really wanted it to happen, he’s got to ask for his dad Dana’s permission, and that’s just not something that Dana is going to let happen.’

‘Look what I’ve done to the rest of their legends, I’m making the rest of the company look bad. I’m only getting better with my craft and I don’t think Conor wants that.’

Paul also feels that McGregor may first end up fighting a ‘lower level influencer’ adding,

‘Nate Diaz [was] standing up [against Conor] going blow for blow; meanwhile, I dismantled him with ease,’

‘He punches like pillows, and he was able to hurt Conor. I have no idea how those punches were able to hurt anyone.’

‘I’m just on a different level, and he’s going down, and I’m going up. At this point, he needs me to make a big money fight. I’m more focused on becoming a world champion in the sport of boxing.’

As for Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC, it seems the chances of a fight in 2023 or next April are almost non-existent, with his coach, John Kavanagh, stating a fight next summer is more likely.
