Following UFC 257 Nate Diaz sets his sights on Dustin Poirier
Nate Diaz is a man of few words, but when he does talk, especially on social media it’s usually to trash talk other fighters. Today his targets were Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor following their UFC 257 bout on Saturday night. First, he made a jab at McGregor on Twitter immediately following the fight, saying, “These guys all get finished all the time.” Then, on Sunday he called out the winner of that UFC 257 main event, Poirier for a shot at rebooking a potential fight they once had scheduled.

“I’m training to whoop ur ass next,” Diaz wrote above a picture of the two of them facing off. “Be about it don’t talk about it.”
Diaz himself is looking to make another run in the UFC lightweight division, and perhaps Poirier could be his next opponent. No doubt he would be interested in mixing it up with McGregor again and settling their trilogy, both with one fight each. McGregor has stated on many occasions that he would grant Diaz that third fight when the time came. With McGregor losing it seems that is no longer of interest to Diaz. He and Poirier were linked to a bout at UFC 230 but that fight was canceled after a Poirier injury. Diaz went on to face Anthony Pettis at UFC 241 and then Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 in New York.
White told reporters that Nate Diaz was looking to return to 155 pounds and that his proposed opponent was someone at the top. Maybe he was the man in waiting for the winner of the UFC 257 main event or the co-main event for that matter. Justin Gaethje was another name that was being thrown around as a potential dance partner for Diaz, either way, it seems that Diaz is no longer on the sidelines.
