After Mir’s release from the UFC on July 9, it was only a matter of time before the 27-fight UFC Veteran would land somewhere.
In April of this year, Mir accepted a two-year suspension handed down by the United States Ant-Doping Agency. Mir, 38, tested positive for a long-term metabolite of dehydrochloromethyltestosterone (DHCMT), following an in-competition test conducted on March 20, 2016, at UFC Fight Night 85 in Brisbane, Australia.
It will be more than 16 years since Mir has competed for another organization other than the UFC. He made his UFC debut at UFC 34 – High Voltage on Nov. 2, 2001, defeating Roberto Travern via armbar submission.
No official word yet as to when Mir will make his debut with Bellator MMA or who his opponent will be. His professional mixed martial arts record sits at 18-11. Mir is eligible to return to MMA in April 2018.
