Frankie Edgar disappointed he was not UFC’s choice
Former lightweight champion and current featherweight contender, Frankie “The Answer” Edgar is slightly disappointed that he was not the UFC’s contingency plan in case Jose Aldo cannot compete July 11 at UFC 189. ‘The Answer’ took to Twitter to post the following:
Yesterday it was announced that Aldo still plans to compete pending he passes medical evaluations after the UFC featherweight champion injured rib in training. The UFC put number one featherweight contender, Chad Mendes on notice to be the backup in case Aldo cannot fight the challenger Conor McGregor. If Mendes and McGregor fight, the bout will be for the interim featherweight title as Aldo will likely be out until October if not deemed medically cleared for the July 11 meeting.
