Georges St-Pierre responds to Kamaru Usman’s callout

Georges St-Pierre has responded after UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman called him out.

After Usman defended his welterweight title against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 251, he tied GSP’s record of most consecutive wins at welterweight. So, he says the only way to break the tie is for the two of them to fight.

“I would love GSP. A crazy stat I just found out,” Usman told the media. “After Saturday night after defeating Masvidal, it would have taken the same 1875 days that it took GSP to get 12 consecutive wins. It would take me exactly 1875 days to get the exact same 12 consecutive wins. We’re tied for that record and what way to break that record than fighting the man who had that record previously?”

Now, TMZ Sports was able to get ahold of the Canadian MMA legend to let him respond to Usman’s callout, where he didn’t seem to keen on the idea of returning to the Octagon.

“For my part, it is a mixed feeling. For sure, sometimes I’m watching the fight and go I feel like I can beat these guys. Or, after I’m done training I’m very confident. But after I go home at night and I’m thinking about all [those] crazy thoughts, and I’m like, ‘I’m gonna be 40-years old-soon,” Georges St-Pierre said. “Do I really wanna go back and do a hardcore training camp of two months?

“Put myself in jail so to speak and get ready for hell?’ I’m like, ‘No, I don’t. I’ve done it for a very long time. And, unfortunately, there’s too many guys that retire too late, and I do not want to be one of these guys,” he continued. “I’m very fortunate I’m healthy, most importantly and I’m also wealthy. I came at the right time and made a lot of money. I think when I measure and calculate the pros and cons, it’s better I stay retired.”

Georges St-Pierre returned to the Octagon at UFC 217 where he submitted Michael Bisping to become the new middleweight champion. Since then, there has been a lot of talk of the Canadian returning to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov. But, for now, GSP is retired and the chances of him fighting Usman are slim to non.
