Gervonta Davis on possible MMA fight with TJ Dillashaw: “I’d KO him in the 1st round”
It looks like Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are swinging the doors wide open for more MMA vs. Boxing bouts.
Ever since their memorable 2017 encounter, they might have seemed to set a trend now in combat sports, as we may now be on the brink of another superfight between a mixed martial artist and boxer.
In recent weeks, two time Super-Featherweight WBA Champion Gervonta Davis and UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw have been embroiled in an intense feud over social media.
The result has lead to both men wanting to face each other, be it in the UFC octagon or in a 20′ by 20′ boxing ring.
Talking to Adam Glyn while in New York City this week, Davis spoke about the possible fight Dillashaw, which he’s apparently all in for, as long as the money is right.
“If he really trying to fight, I’m willing to do it,” he said. “I’m willing to switch over, make some big money.”
“I could come to MMA or he could come to boxing.”
Though it’s obvious the disadvantage Davis will have should he decide to meet Dillashaw inside the octagon, he’d still be willing to do it.
Also, knowing the danger of being susceptible to leg-kicks, takedowns, and even submissions, Davis is confident he would knock Dillashaw out in quick fashion.
“If he’s willing to fight, then yes, I’ll switch over and do MMA,” he said.
“I’d knock him out, first round. And they’ve got longer rounds [in MMA] too right? They’ve got five minutes or whatever,” he continued.
“No, [he’s got not chance]. I’m too fast, and I hit hard.”
