Glory Days – NEF 55 pairs Glory Watson against Shawna Ormsby
New England Fights will present its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 55: Glory Days” on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Earlier today, NEF announced the main event for the card. Glory Watson (5-1) will meet Shawna Ormsby (2-4) at the strawweight limit of 115 pounds.
When “The Fury” Watson climbs into the cage on November 11, it will be nine months to the day since her last fight. Watson pulled off the biggest win of her pro career thus far this past February when she submitted veteran Hilarie Rose (6-6) in the first round. It was the third submission win for Watson as a pro. She is currently the number-one-ranked pound-for-pound female MMA competitor in New England. Watson represents Young’s MMA based in nearby Orrington, Maine.
“On November 11th, I make the walk into the MMA cage as a professional for the seventh time,” exclaimed Watson. “It’s hard to believe that I’ve been competing in mixed martial arts for only five years and I’m grateful to be where I am. After a short break away to take care of myself and my body, I am beyond ready to step back into the NEF cage!
“My opponent is someone my team has talked about matching me up against for most of my professional career. She has experience in the world of MMA, BJJ and more recently added boxing fights to the resume. For me that means, this athlete is a game opponent that is ready to fight hard! I am excited for this match up and to feel the roar of the always amazing Bangor crowd once again!”
From standup to the mat, Florida’s Shawna “Bam Bam” Ormsby is well-versed in all aspects of the martial arts. She has been involved in combat sports for more than a decade and holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. With fast hands and a powerful submission game, Ormsby might just be the toughest opponent Watson has faced to date. Ormsby will represent DarkwolfMMA in this fight.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to step into the NEF cage against Glory Watson after a 2 1/2 year layoff from MMA,” said Ormsby. “I was not sure if I’d be returning to fighting but I made the decision to change teams after 9 years and know this is the transition I’ve needed. I’ve only ever taken the toughest fights and will continue to do so. I’m familiar with Glory and am excited to put on a war. I’ve always had to fight on my opponent’s turf which is always a disadvantage so know I am coming to finish this fight.”
“NEF 55: Glory Days” takes place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. Doors are scheduled to open at 6 pm with first fight taking place at 7 pm. Tickets to “NEF 55” are available now at www.ticketmaster.com.
