Glover Teixeira explains why Jiri Prochazka fight at UFC 275 made him “hungry to fight again”

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira explained why the Jiri Prochazka fight at UFC 275 made him “hungry to fight again.”

Teixeira lost the UFC light heavyweight title when he was submitted in the fifth round by Prochazka in their all-out war at UFC 275. Many fans and media have called it one of the greatest MMA fights of all time, as both men fought back-and-forth and gave everything they had in them for five rounds. It was an incredible performance by both men, as Teixeira showed he is still one of the best in world at age 42, while Prochazka was able to steal the belt in the waning seconds of the fifth round of their epic fight.

Since it was such a close fight, there are many fans who want to see a rematch now. While Teixeira said he was considering retirement prior to the bout, the fact that he lost in such a crazy fashion has him wanting to fight again. Speaking to AG Fight in a recent interview, Teixeira once again expressed his interest in fighting Prochazka again. According to the veteran Brazilian, he said that the loss lit a fire under him, and he wants to fight the Czech fighter in a rematch and prove he’s still the best in the world.

“This fight gave me fire, because I fought so f*cking well, I messed this guy up until that moment. I really have to focus on what I know, on the training sessions that are going well, the gas is good, the technique is good, the blunder happens. I’ll stop when I don’t feel like it anymore, but I’m hungry to fight again, to do that one (rematch). This is the fight that every fighter needs because it lights that fire,” Teixeira said.

Do you want to see the rematch with Glover Teixeira and Jiri Prochazka next after their war at UFC 275?
