Ground Zero Grappling debuts this week in Philadelphia
There are more and more mixed martial arts academies opening up on a regular basis. The public is realizing how important it is to be able to defend yourself, and to maintain a healthy lifestyle to increase the chances that you are on this earth for as long as possible. As a result of this growth, we have seen opportunities for men, women, and children become more readily available to compete in submission grappling competitions. We are seeing many amateur and professional MMA fighters taking matches to sharpen their ground skills in between fights.
Art of War Cage Fighting President, Mike Bickings, has seen and heard the requests from many in the community. Bickings will oblige as he and his team will host Ground Zero Grappling 1 on Friday, September 16th in Philadelphia’s Sheet Metal Worker’s Hall. MyMMANews reached out to Mike to ask about his newest venture, and he tells us…
“I’ve always enjoyed marketing our talent. I want everything to be Hollywood and have fans and competitors have a great time. I have a dream team around me supporting Ground Zero. Grappling is taking off and our first card is ridiculously stacked. Even my own son is competing. We’ve established our brand of MMA on the East Coast and now it’s time to give the area’s top grapplers a stage to show what they can do. Me and my team are very excited. Friday night can’t come soon enough!”
Listed below is the full card and the rules. In the main event, Andrew Kochel takes on Nick Calvanese and the co-main event features Paul Sims vs Michael DiPiero. There are also multiple active and high-level MMA fighters who will be looking for those submissions.
I have had the pleasure to be an AOW family member since day one and will also be on Team Ground Zero providing interviews and helping with production. Eric Kowal will be in the house bringing up to the minute results. MyMMANews ace photographer, William McKee, will be behind the lens capturing all the exciting moments as usual.
The Sheet Metal Worker’s Hall is located at 1301 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19147. Doors open at 5pm and the action begins at 6pm with limited tickets remaining.
