Gurdarshan Mangat – “I think you’re going to see the most dominant version of myself”
Gurdarshan Mangat (16-3) will make his fifth walk to the ONE Championship circle on Friday when he faces Yodkaikaew Fairtex (7-4-1) at ONE: 158 in Singapore.
“I think you’re going to see the most dominant version of myself,” Mangat said ahead of the contest. “I’ve improved everywhere, I’m a well-versed mixed martial artist and I think I’ll be too much for ‘Y2K’ in this fight. You’re going to see someone who’s going to be a serious championship contender in the future.”
Mangat has recorded three victories since coming to ONE, dropping just one fight, a submission loss to Reece McLaren in 2019. “St. Lion” Mangat will need to earn a few wins before getting his crack at gold, but the 35-year-old Canadian mixed martial artist feels that he is on his way to getting that opportunity.
“Whoever is champ of the flyweights is basically the best pound-for-pound guy in ONE Championship,” Mangat said. “I think that is the deepest division in ONE, it’s the toughest, and so [the Champ] is firmly on top of the mountain and I believe that’s where I’m headed.”
