Hakeem Dawodu outpoints Mike Trizano at UFC Vegas 47
Ultimate Fighter winner Mike Trizano and Hakeem Dawodu both entered the octagon for the first time in 2022 when they met at featherweight today, part of the UFC Vegas 47 fight card from the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dawodu looked to get back on the winning track after suffering his first defeat since 2018. The 30-year-old fighter from Calgary, Alberta, Cananda dropped a unanimous decision to Movsar Evloev in his last outing at UFC 263 in June 2021.
Trizano on the other hand, picked up a decision victory over Ľudovít Klein in his last visit to the Apex in May of last year.
The first-round tonight was mostly a feeling out process for both men who stood in the center of the octagon and exchanged shots back and forth. Not a great deal of damage inflicted by either competitor, but the round should be scored in favor of Dawodu who out struck Trizano in the opening five minutes.
Dawodu turned things up a bit in the second frame, getting a little flashier with the kicks and pressing Trizano up against the cage. Again, a round likely to be scored in favor of the Canadian.
In the concluding round, being down on the scorecards, Trizano would need to finish the fight if he would like to see his hand raised. Unfortunately for him, the New Jersey native was not able to pull the trigger and Hakeem Dawodu would walk away the victor, earning the nod on all judges’ scorecards.
