Last year the UFC celebrated its 20th year and in doing so they headlined their UFC 167 anniversary card with then longtime welterweight champion Georges ‘Rush’ St. Pierre defending against Johny Hendricks. In the one year that has passed the landscape of the organization has changed, however the brand stays the same.
Today, Nov. 12, 2014, the UFC turns the legal drinking age of 21.
MyMMANews.com spoke with a fighters who made headlines while fighting under the Zuffa umbrella. A fighter who was there in Colorado on Nov. 12, 1993 on the very first card, Art Jimmerson.
Fighters like ‘Rowdy’ Bec Rawlings who is competing on this season of the Ultimate Fighter. Her first fight ever will be aired on tonight’s episode of TUF. Fighters like Joe Riggs, Tom DeBlass and Ultimate Fighter winner Eddie Gordon.
Art ‘One Glove’ Jimmerson – “My FAVORITE UFC moment and FIGHTS has to be all the Fights in UFC 1! Think about it, WE’VE NEVER SEEN NOTHING LIKE IT!!!! MAN THIS WAS THE REAL LIFE, “STREET FIGHTER”! Lol. Praise Jesus we got through it!”
Rowdy Bec Rawlings – “Ummmm, my favorite was definitely when they added the women’s division J Ronda Rousey vs. Liza Carmouche….it sent shivers down my spine.”
Joe Riggs – “When Tim Sylvia came back to beat the Arlovski in their second fight.”
Tom DeBlass – “Royce vs. Severn.”
Mike Constantino – “UFC 100 – I was cornering Jim Miller and it was a star studded card and recognized as the biggest event in UFC history and I am proud to have been a part of it.”
Eddie Gordon – “The moment Chris Weidman knocked out (Anderson) Silva. I then realized dreams come true and nothing beats hard work preparation and confidence.”
