Ian Garry remains undefeated, TKO’s Kenan Song in final 40 seconds at UFC 285
The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, March 4, 2023, for UFC 285, going down live from the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
Headlining the event is the return of perhaps the greatest mixed martial arts fighter to ever walk the earth, former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones (26-1), who makes his first appearance in three years tonight to challenge former interim UFC heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane (11-1) for the vacant heavyweight championship.
Co-headlining the event is also a title fight, this one coming at 125 lbs as UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko (23-3) aims to make the eighth-straight defense of her title opposing no. 6 ranked Alexa Grasso (15-3).
Headlining the early preliminary card tonight was former Cage Warriors welterweight champion Ian Garry (11-0), who faced Song Kenan (18-7) in the fifth fight of the evening.
Garry had gone 3-0 thus far into his UFC tenure, securing a knockout victory in his promotional debut, while Kenan had gone 4-2 through his first six UFC outings, securing three wins by knockout in that time.

Official Result: Ian Garry def. Song Kenan via TKO (punches) at 4:22 of round three
Garry finds the range early on with his jab and leg kicks, and he’s doing a good job of making Song miss. Two minutes in and Garry already has Song’s lead calf busted up.
Garry then steps in to land a beautiful left hook to the body, but is dropped by a vicious check left hook from Song immediately following. Song absolutely unloads on him, but ties up with him along the fence once he doesn’t get the finish, which was ill advised because Garry was really hurt by that hook.

Garry picks up in the second right where he left off before being hurt in the first and handily picks Song apart during the middle stretch.
Garry goes for the knockout in the third and final round, as he begins to unload on some wicked combinations throughout. Song lands that left hook of his again one minute in, though Garry remains unfazed, and Song is unable to land anything substantial afterward.
Garry ends up hurting Song with a vicious combination late in the third and secures the finish.
