Ilia Topuria remains on UFC 270 card, now faces Charles Jourdain
Ilia Topuria will remain on UFC 270.
Topuria was supposed to fight fellow undefeated fighter, Movsar Evloev, but he was removed from the card due to COVID-19. Shortly thereafter, Topuria called out Dan Ige, but the Hawaiian is not available so now Charles Jourdain has agreed to step up on short notice to take on the undefeated fighter. The news was first reported by Alvaro Colmenero on social media.
Ilia Topuria (11-0) is coming off a vicious first-round KO over Ryan Hall at UFC 264 in July. He’s currently 3-0 in the UFC with his other wins coming by KO over Damon Jackson and a decision victory over Youssef Zalal, in a fight he took on short notice. Prior to signing with the UFC, he fought for promotions like Brave CF and Cage Warriors among others.
Charles Jourdain (12-4-1) returned to the win column last time out with a decision victory over Andre Ewell in December. The Canadian is currently 3-3-1 inside the UFC with his other wins coming over Marcelo Rojo by TKO and a KO win over Doo-ho Choi. His losses, meanwhile, have came at the hands of Desmond Green, Andre Fili, and a submission loss to Julian Erosa.
UFC 270 is set to go down from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The card is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane while Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo have their trilogy match in the co-main.
