Impa Kasanganay reacts after UFC release: “No need to dwell on the past”
Former UFC welterweight Impa Kasanganay reacted after learning of his release from the promotion, saying there is “no need to dwell on the past.”
Kasanganay — a Sanford MMA product who is 9-2 in his MMA career — joined the UFC in 2020 following two wins on Dana White’s Contender Series. Making his UFC debut on short notice, Kasanganay defeated Maki Pitolo in August 2020 to pick up his first win. Two months later, he was on the wrong end of a highlight-reel knockout when Joaquin Buckley spinning back kicked him in the head. “Tshilobo” then defeated Sasha Palatnikov by submission before being knocked out by Carlston Harris in September 2021. That ended up being the last fight of his UFC career as he was recently released.
Taking to his social media, Kasanganay confirmed that he is no longer a member of the UFC roster, while also taking the high road about being cut. Take a look at the full statement that Kasanganay wrote below.
Journal Entry 3 – Onward : Filled with gratitude and an eagerness to learn. Thank you to the @ufc and to all of my opponents I faced in the promotion. Many blessings to your families and happy holidays. Stay active, fight relentlessly, and keep improving! I am blessed beyond measure and looking forward to what God has in store for me next. Let’s Ride! When we know God has a perfect plan for our lives we get to move forward with confidence and peace knowing what He has in store is greater than what we could ever ask for or imagine. Ask God questions. It’s okay to not understand what He’s doing at first , but never worry it works out. In order to know your glory you must first understand your story. What a beautiful story I am a part of. I improve, I move forward, and I fight. No need to dwell on the past for there are so many more Victories to Claim. To God be the glory. (@ruthless_rl )Robbie Lawler said it best “ The only thing to focus on now is improving. Everything else will work itself out” Let’s Ride. • • Refine. Restructure. Triumph. • “The future glory of this Temple will be greater than its past glory, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. And in this place I will bring peace. I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!”” Haggai 2:9 NLT • – Love Tshilobo
