Jack Della Maddalena eyes Vicente Luque for a ‘banger’ of a striking match after UFC 284
Jack Della Maddalena is hoping to face Vicente Luque next.
Maddalena picked up the biggest win of his career at UFC 284 as he scored a first-round submission over Randy Brown. The Aussie landed a big shot that dropped Brown and then started landing ground and pound before getting ahold of his neck and getting the submission win and a victory Maddalena is very proud of.
“It’s definitely the biggest win of my career,” Maddalena said after UFC 284. “It’s the toughest test of my career, and yeah – it feels great.”
After the win, many fans called for Jack Della Maddalena to fight a ranked opponent next time out and the Aussie agrees. Not only does he think he should get a top-15 opponent but the Perth, native eyes a top-10 opponent in Vicente Luque who is currently without a fight.
“I think Vicente Luque doesn’t have a fight. I think that would be a banger,” Maddalena added.
As Maddalena mentioned, Luque does not have a fight booked and is coming off two straight losses so perhaps he would need to fight an up-and-comer like Maddalena. It could also be a Fight Night main event between two fan-favorite strikers, but whether or not Luque would have interest in the matchup is uncertain.
Jack Della Maddalena (14-2) is a perfect 4-0 in the UFC as before the submission victory over Randy Brown at UFC 284, he scored a first-round TKO over Danny Roberts. Prior to that, he beat Ramazan Emeev by first-round TKO and in his debut, knocked out Pete Rodriguez in the first round.
Vicente Luque (21-9-1) is on a two-fight losing skid as he suffered a third-round knockout by Geoff Neal back in August. Prior to that, he lost a five-round Fight Night main event decision to Belal Muhammad. Before the setbacks, Luque was on a four-fight win streak with wins over Michael Chiesa, Tyron Woodley, Randy Brown, and Niko Price.
