Jackson’s MMA Series XXVI Results
On Saturday October 27, Jackson’s MMA Series XXVI took place at the Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino, a land-based casino. The event had a 5 fight amateur card and concluded with a 3 fight pro card, headlined unbeaten Jess “Vanilla Gorilla” Martinez against LFA vet Jordan Titoni.
Richard Villegas knocked out Charles Gellipsee with ground and pound from the guard after a knock down from a right upper cut.
Jason Gonzales took Keith Dawson to the mat early, got swept in a scramble an tapped to a rear naked choke from side position with no hooks in. (Looked more like neck crank).
Mark Matthew McDill and Michael Beals went to war in one of the best regional amateur fights I’ve seen this year. Both fighters landing haymakers and rocking each other. Beals in the third had his moment, taking McDill’s breath away with a thunderous body kick, but McDill would avoid getting finished, got back up cornering Beals against the cage and wearing him out with punches and knees.
Marquel Mederos stuffs Jesse Moorhouse takedowns and batters Moorhouse’s on the feet scoring two knockdowns and finding the finish.
Josiah Reyes used his jab early and ground sicks late to sweep Ambrose Vigil on the score cards in the featured amateur contest.
The pro card started off with Clay Matza knocking out Jorrel Sparenberg with a 15 strike combination, 10 seconds into the third round, that was finished off by a scintillating left hook.
In the co-main event Rodney Kealohi escaped from danger on ground to knock down Chris Cortez with a Spinning backfist. Finishing the bout with 26 unanswered strikes from mount.
In the main event Jess Martinez battled back from being knocked down for the first time in his career, courtesy of a Jordan Titoni right hand; to win a split decision with the judges valuing Martinez’s pressure, boxing , and two takedowns in the third round.
