Jairzinho Rozenstruik ready to prove he’s the best striker in the UFC heavyweight division against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 266
UFC heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik is ready to prove he’s the best striker in his division against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 266.
Coming off of a first-round KO over Augusto Sakai back in June, Rozenstruik re-emerged as one of the top fighters in the UFC heavyweight division following a lopsided loss to Ciryl Gane earlier this year. At UFC 266 on September 25, Rozenstruik will step back into the Octagon against Blaydes, who is also one of the top fighters in the weight class. Blaydes is coming off of a KO loss to Derrick Lewis earlier this year, but he has proven himself to be an elite wrestler, and this Rozenstruik matchup should be a very interesting fight to see how he rebounds.
Speaking to MMA reporter James Lynch of MMANews ahead of UFC 266, Rozenstruik stated his goals for the Blaydes fight. As far as Rozenstruik goes, he is looking to step into the cage and show that he’s the best striker in the division, and he’s ready to stop Blaydes’ wrestling in order to do just that.
"I think I'm the best striker in the division … of course I want to go in there and SMASH him"

“I think it’s my power against his power. I’m a striker, I think I’m the best striker in the division. He calls himself the best wrestler, so it’s going to be two different styles. Of course, I want to go in there and smash him and win this fight. It doesn’t matter what’s going to happen. Of course, I’m aware of what he’s doing. He’s a wrestler, he’s going to shoot, he’s going to try to take me down. He’s going to tie me up and I’m going to be there thwarting those things and move forward with my power,” Rozenstruik said.
One thing that Rozenstruik is really looking forward to is fighting at T-Mobile Arena in front of fans again after his last four fights have taken place without any fans in attendance watching.
“For me it’s awesome, and it’s going to be with the fans again and the whole picture is there and the hype is there, so I’m really excited and I can’t wait,” Rozenstruik said.
