Jan Blachowicz still wants to fight Jon Jones in the UFC — or even in a backyard
UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz says he is still open to fighting Jon Jones, at 205lbs, heavyweight, or even in a backyard.
Blachowicz is currently the UFC’s reigning and defending 205lbs champion after having defeated Dominick Reyes to claim the vacant belt last fall at UFC 253 and then defending it once successfully against Israel Adesanya UFC 259. Of course, it was Jones who was the UFC’s 205lbs kingpin for the better part of the last decade, and at one point last year, Blachowicz and Jones were slated to fight after Blachowicz knocked out Corey Anderson in Jones’ stomping grounds of New Mexico. But that fight never ended up materializing because Jones decided to vacate his belt to move up to heavyweight, though he’s yet to make his debut there.
Speaking to MMA reporter James Lynch in a recent interview, Blachowicz was asked if he still sees himself locking horns with “Bones” inside the UFC one day. As far as the Pole goes, this is absolutely still a fight that he is interested in taking, and he believes that Jones owes him the fight after promising it to him after he beat Anderson. So he’s open to fighting Jones at either light heavyweight, heavyweight, or even in a backyard.
“I hope so. I hope that he will fight at heavyweight and we will see how he’s going to look in this division. I’m still waiting for him, anywhere and every time. I hope that he will stop talking this bullsh*t and he gives me what he promised me after I beat Corey Anderson (at UFC Rio Rancho last year),” Blachowicz said.
“I can do this at heavyweight, it’s not a problem. I can do this with him in the backyard. I don’t care.”
Do you think we will ever see Jan Blachowicz and Jon Jones fight inside the Octagon one day?
