Jason Witt believes fight with Bryan Barberena has “fight of the night written all over it”

One of the top nicknames in the sport, “The Vanilla Gorilla”, Jason Witt, steps back into the octagon on July 31st against Bryan Barberena. After coming into the UFC a winner in 9 of his last 10 appearances, Witt has gone 1-2 on the big stage. Those losses did not come without lessons, which Witt feels have only helped him grow.

“You can’t make the little mistakes at this level,” Witt began. “I lost the last fight pretty quickly and I just made a stupid mistake. I paid for it, it was embarrassing for me, it really sucked. You need a short memory in this game. I know I belong here, (in the past) sometimes I would doubt that I belonged here or not, but I know I have the skill set to beat anybody in that cage,” Witt continued. “One of the biggest takeaways is knowing I belong there, a confidence booster.”

As for his preparations for “Bam Bam” Barberena, Witt is expecting quite the war come fight night. A couple of tough veterans, one looking to regain his standing in the win column, the other looking to string a few wins together into a streak.

“Barberena is a tough veteran, you have a tough veteran in me,” Witt told MyMMANews. “I’m hard to put away, I’m a bad motherfucker, I think it is fight of the night written all over it. He’s hard to put away, I’m going to grind him out.”
