Jeff Monson to revoke U.S. citizenship – “I don’t want anything to do with America”
Former UFC heavyweight title contender Jeff Monson intends to have his U.S. citizenship revoked as he continues to profess his love of Russia.
A post on Monson’s official Instagram page stated:
“I don’t want anything to do with America” – MMA fighter Jeff Monson
“MMA fighter Jeff “Snowman” Monson, who received a Russian passport in 2018, reported the beginning of the US citizenship refusal procedure.
“‘I’m actually going through the procedure of US citizenship revocation. This process can take a couple of months. I miss my family but that’s it. Want nothing to do with America. The U.S. government and military are causing unprecedented suffering with their wars, sanctions and meddling in the affairs of other countries around the world. I love Russia and the Russian people, I am happy here,'” said the athlete.”

The 52-year-old Monson, also known as “the Snowman,” was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, but was granted Russian citizenship in 2018. He also has been elected as a deputy to the Council of Deputies of the Krasnogorsk district in Moscow Region, where he continues to serve as a legislator.
In a recent interview with Russian news agency TASS, Monson cited a disagreement with U.S. foreign policies that he claims interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and cause harm to their people, as the reason behind his fight to have his U.S. citizenship revoked.
Monson is also a two-time ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship winner. His pro mixed martial arts record sits at 61-27-2. He challenged Tim Sylvia for the UFC heavyweight title in 2006, losing by way of unanimous decision.
