Jiri Prochazka asks for Glover Teixeira rematch following war at UFC 275
UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka has asked for the Glover Teixeira rematch following their war at UFC 275.
Prochazka defeated Teixeira via fifth-round submission last month at UFC 275 in what many fans and media consider one of the best fights in UFC history. Teixeira was on his way to defending the title, but with just about 30 seconds left in the fifth round, he was forced to tap out to a rear-naked choke. It was one of the most surprising finishes in a title fight in UFC history considering Prochazka is not known for his ground game and that it was the first time Teixeira had ever been submitted in his MMA career.
Due to the nature of the way the fight played out, Teixeira recently requested a rematch against Prochazka, but up until this point, we weren’t sure if the champ would choose Prochazka as his next opponent or another contender such as Jan Blachowicz instead. Now, we know who Prochazka wants to fight next, and it’s Teixeira.
Taking to his social media exactly one month after the fight with Teixeira at UFC 275, Prochazka told the world that he wants to fight Teixeira for the second time.

“Hello everybody. I wish you a great day, and I made decide for next fight. And I want to fight Glover the next fight. Not because it will be another big fight, but just one reason: my performance was bad in first fight, and I will show you why I’m the champion. Clearly, decisively. And I think Glover deserves it. So here’s the offer: I will show you why I’m the champion,” Prochazka said.
The UFC has not officially announced the rematch between Prochazka and Teixeira, but now that both men have verbally agreed to it, an announcement may come soon for the fight to take place before the year is over.
