Joanna Jedrzejczyk leaves door open to fight in the UFC again one day

Former UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is leaving the door open to fight in the UFC again one day.

Jedrzejczyk, one of the greatest women’s MMA fighters in UFC history, retired last month after losing via knockout to Weili Zhang at UFC 275. It was her first fight in over two years and it ended in devastating fashion, so it wasn’t exactly a surprise to see her step away from the sport given the result of the fight. Although Jedrzejczyk is only 34 years old, she has been fighting for a very long time, and at this point in her life, she is just trying to enjoy it. With other business ventures outside of MMA to fall back on, Jedrzejczyk doesn’t necessarily have to fight again, unlike other fighters who might need the money badly.

However, Jedrzejczyk still loves the sport, and even though she announced her retirement after UFC 275 and seems content with her decision, she is still leaving the door open to a return one day. Speaking to MMAFighting.com at the recent UFC Fan Expo, the former UFC women’s strawweight champion revealed the one bout that may give her the itch to fight again.

“Maybe I could come back for the female ‘BMF’ title. Look, I’m retired. I am retired, but in the future, maybe I would fight for the ‘BFMF’ (belt). I don’t know (who I would fight), there’s not that many ‘BFMF,’ real O.G. female fighters left,” Jedrzejczyk said.

The only other BMF title in UFC history was won by welterweight Jorge Masvidal when he defeated Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in November 2019, although that belt was a one-off and never defended. For Jedrzejczyk, if the UFC ever did create a female version of the BMF title, then she would consider taking that fight if she ever did come back to the Octagon.

Do you think Joanna Jedrzejczyk will fight again inside the Octagon one day?
