Joanna Jedrzejczyk plans to show Weili Zhang ‘Polish power’ at UFC 248
Joanna Jedrzejczyk is set to fight for the strawweight title again when she battles Weili Zhang at UFC 248 on March 7.
Zhang is coming off of a knockout win over Jessica Andrade in under a minute. Jedrzejczyk knows she has to wary of the power. But, she knows the Chinese champion has to be worried about the Polish power.
“Every opponent is different, and she’s definitely very strong,” Jedrzejczyk said backstage this past weekend at UFC 245 (via MMA Junkie). “She’s young, very hungry, her punches are juicy. And, I watch her fight two days ago with Mikey Brown because we – Mikey Brown is crazy about this fight. We’re going to have a good plan, but of course, I will have to take this fight second by second. Like I said, she’s very dangerous, but I will show her this Polish power very soon.”
Ultimately, Joanna Jedrzejczyk is confident she will once again reign of the strawweight division but knows Zhang is a big challenge for her on March 7.
“Juicy and crispy and, yeah, she’s wild. She’s wild. Definitely she’s wild,” Jedrzejczyk said. “She’s not that technical of a fighter, but she’s very strong. She’s big, she’s massive, so that’s why her punches are very juicy. I’m tall in the strawweight division. So I’m never going to be like bully person you know, like big person and very muscular.”
Joanna Jedrzejczyk is heading into this title fight coming off of a dominating decision win over Michelle Waterson in the main event of UFC Tampa. Before that, she lost to Valentina Shevchenko for the vacant flyweight title.
Weili Zhang, meanwhile, is undefeated in the UFC and before she knocked out Andrade she beat Tecia Torres, Jessica Aguilar, and Danielle Taylor. She is also on a 20-fight winning streak so this fight will be a big one for the division.
