Joe Pyfer faces Gerald Meerschaert at UFC 287
‘Bodybagz’ Joe Pyfer (10-2) has his second UFC assignment booked against Gerald Meerschaert (35-15) at UFC 287 on April 8.
The 26-year-old Pyfer, who was recently inducted into the Art of War Cage Fighting Hall of Fame, returns after finishing Alen Amedovski in the first round last September.
Pyfer, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, earned his UFC contract on his second stint on Dana White’s Contender Series. After a brutal finish of Ozzy Diaz, and being the only fighter on the card to earn a contract that night, the “Be Joe Pyfer,” quote from UFC President Dana White went viral.
Meerschaert, 35, has the most submission wins and second-most finishes overall in UFC middleweight history. He is coming off a third-round submission of Bruno Silva at UFC on ESPN 41 in August.
