Johnny Walker chokes Ion Cutelaba with tight rear-naked choke early at UFC 279
Johnny Walker vs. Ion Cutelaba goes down tonight at UFC 279.
The UFC returns to T-Mobile Arena In Las Vegas, Nevada On September 10, 2022.
In the main event superstar Nate Diaz returns against Tony Ferguson in a welterweight showcase. The fight was made on less than 24 hours notice after the weigh in antics the day before after Khamzat Chimaev missed weight by 7.5lbs. Khamzat Chimaev also gets a new opponent, the rising prospect will take on Kevin Holland in the makeshift co-main event.
Also on the main card Li Jingliang gets a new opponent and will square off against Daniel Rodriquez. Irene Aldana and Macy Chiasson in a 140 pound catch-weight.
The rest of the card also features Hakeem Dawodu, Jailton Almedia, Chris Barnett and Norman Dumont to name a few fighters on the prelims.

Walker (18-7), returns to the octagon after a devastating loss against Jamahal Hill earlier this year. Walker looks to return to his old ways when he made his UFC debut bursting onto the scene against Khalil Roundtree in 2018. Walker is 1-4 in his last five outings.
Cutelaba (16-7-1), on the other hand rides into this fight with a similar situation to his adversary, 1-3-1 in his last five fights. In his last appearance in the octagon “The Hulk” dropped a submission loss against Ryan Spann. Cutelaba looks to return to winning ways.

ROUND 1:
Mike Beltran your third man in the octagon. Cutelaba opens up with a early head kick that momentarily lands. Walker returns of his own head kick but Cutelaba catches the kick and trips his opponent. After some control time Cutelaba looks for a armbar and Walker reverses the position. Walker slams Cutelaba to the mat and hunts for a rear-naked choke. Walker continues to looks for the submission after some hand fighting Walker turns Cutelaba to the other side and sinks in the submission deeper! Cutelaba is grimacing as the choke gets tighter, he has no option to TAP! Submission round one for Johnny Walker, wow.
