Jimmy Crute: A wise man called @danielkellyjudo once told me “in a sport that’s supposed to be full of tough guys you’d be surprised at how many pussies there are in this sport” very true words. Disappointed that my opponent has ducked me yet again but I can’t say that I am surprised that being said I can’t express how excited and grateful I am that a true fighter has decided to step in and fight me. This is a better fight, better name and bigger challenge but I’m ready for it. . . . #ufc #mma #fight
Though Crute said that Walker “ducked” him, the Brazilian’s team confirmed to MMAFighting.com that Walker is injured with a torn pectoral muscle, which is the reason he was forced to withdraw from the fight.
Crute (12-1) has a solid UFC record of 4-1 and he has won all four of his UFC fights by stoppage, over Paul Craig, Sam Alvey, Modestas Bukauskas, and Michael Oleksiejczuk, with his lone loss in the Octagon coming against Misha Cirkunov. Based on what Crute said as far as getting a “better name,” you have to imagine that this new mystery opponent is someone ranked above him in the UFC light heavyweight rankings. Right now, Crute is ranked No. 12 in the world. Some bigger names above him in the rankings include Anthony Smith and Volkan Oezdemir, to name a few. We will likely find out Walker’s replacement in the coming days.
